Mohammed IV of the house of Alaoui was born in 1963 and ascended to the country's throne in July 1999 following his father King Hassan II. During the short period of his rule, he had done several efforts on improving the country's social life mainly in aspects of human rights and of woman's social position. He reformed the traditional family law Mudawana in order to give more power to Moroccan women.
